Allen County Scottsville outscored Mason County 13-3 in the third quarter and beat the Lady Royals 49-42 Saturday night in the semifinals of the Houchens Industries/KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 Basketball Tournament. Kara Moran made a lay up to give Mason County a 27-17 lead with 2:09 left in second quarter. But Allen County Scottsville scored the final four points of the first half and the first nine points of the third quarter. Mason County's only points in the third quarter came on a free throw by Maddie Boone at the 4:29 mark and lay up by Erin Kumler that tied the game at 30-30 with 2:32 left in the quarter. Allen County Scottsville scored six straight points to lead 36-30 with 7:10 to play. Jordan Frodge and Brianna Littleton hit back-to-back three-pointers to tie the game at 36-36. Morgan Rich hit two free throws for Allen County Scottsville. Maddie Boone hit a jumper to tie the score at 38-38 with 2:18 to go. The Lady Patriots outscored the Lady Royals 11-4 the rest of the way. Allen County Scottsville hit three free throws and Holly Robinson came up with a steal and made a lay up to give the Lady Patriots a 43-38 lead. outscored Mason County 11-4 the rest of the game. Frodge and Whitney O'Mara were named to the All-Tournament Team.
